About
By combining membrane distillation (MD) and thermal vapor compression (TVC) with high temperature linear-fresnel solar collections, SolAir Desal’s “NoAir” approach can make use of high temperatures, achieve higher efficiencies, and reduce electrical requirements.
In NoAir, a single pump moves brine through a linear Fresnel solar collector, which then go to TVC that both makes use of high temperature heat (90-170C) and provides the vacuum for vacuum-assisted air gap membrane distillation.
The NoAir approach, achieving nearly pure vapor, without air, within the membrane distillation system, breaks the diffusive regime to enable much higher water flux than existing systems.
